Paper love

I have got a crush on these paper bags that I found in the flower shop yesterday. Perfect for some spring flowers. The bags are not waterproof, though, so you need to have a pot and plate inside as well. I will have to go and buy a few more tomorrow. Would look good with daffodils inside, too! Or why not for herbs in the kitchen?

Dagg vase

This vase has been in for a very long time, and seen on most blogs, but I still like it. To me it is not about being first or being trendy. It is all about the design. I think the rumba of being first, trendy and in (and then disregarding something when seen too much) misses the whole point. It is not about that, it is about the aesthetics in the design and how watching it stands the ravages of time. But that is another story.:) I could, for example, equally well state that the Eames chairs (seen a million times) still are very beautiful in design with the base this way and that and the perfect form and contrast of different materials. How do you look at this topic?

I love the form and bubbles on this vase (although the vase itself is a bit too large in size). So still heavily on my long wish list! It looks so beautiful with straggly flowers in it!

Mmm... a good recipe for focaccia can be found here, if you would like to try it out!
The gourmet salt makes it all!

Olle Eksell for Ikea

As you know I like illustrations from the old days. The playfulness, joy, humour and simpleness that existed before this computerized world. Real sketches by hand.

In April IKEA launches some new products called ÖNSKEDRÖM with motifs by one of Sweden's most prominent graphic designers, Olle Eksell (1918-2007). You probably know him from the poster with the famous cacao eyes?

I think it is a good idea to make use of old design treasures that otherwise would not see the daylight else when flipping through an old book, or in the worst scenario, only when someone would be lucky enough to have access to his desk drawer.

The illustrations are to be found on cards, trays, kitchen towels, napkins, textiles etc. See more here

Wiinblad's creative joy

Waiting for these beauties to be launched outside Denmark.
I like the playfulness in the motifs by Bjørn Wiinblad.
Which colour of the coffee cups would you choose?

Easy Eastern DIY tip

I am always late when it comes to celebrations. All DIY tips feel unnecessary to do in the very last minute with no material available. Then I always think that next time I will be the first on the ball! So for once. At your service! Forgive me if it is too early, but this is a lovely DIY tip for Easter! And maybe it is not too early, as often the best tips by the bloggers come way too late for me even being able to think about accomplishing them.

I have searched for modern, nice and easy Eastern DIY tips for ages (I mean all years back). For any kind of tips that neither are ugly nor where you need to go nuts before it is ready - and this is it! So nice! Take a look at the tutorial over here at Squirrelly minds. I would like to try it out as I love to mix colours without no rules at all!

One thing, though. Warning! Be careful with your walls!

All you need is:

white eggs, blown out and dry
a bottle cap
a paintbrush
paint (different colours)

Esteri Tomula | Pastoraali pattern

I bought some white porcelain plates in different shapes some time ago. Still wondering what do with them and what to paint. Lately I have tried to learn from the best by doodling details and imitating illustrations from the 50s and 60s. I know that I will not be able to do anything advanced first time on porcelain but at least it is fun to play with the ideas. Above are some drawings by the pottery artist Esteri Tomula for Arabia (1965-69). Love them! Would definitely by any pieces on the flea market if I would come across.

Well, I probably end up doing some dots instead. But at least I have imitated all single details above on paper. Maybe I am able to turn it into something new and own later.

Would like to do so much more creative stuff, but you know. Then you have to sleep, eat and work, too! :)

Cappuccino moment

Good morning! Enjoying my cappuccino moment on an empty and free Saturday with a lot of ideas in my head. I am trying to kill the perfectionist inside me and not invent any unnecessary musts today.

Remember there is still a chance (this weekend only) to win your own KoKo porcelain series by Arabia in my previous post here. The winner will be announced here.

Happy Saturday!
